Looking for adventure? Stunning Himalaya scenery? Perfect flying conditions? An impressive
culture? Bir-Billing has it all!
Bir-Billing in the Himachal Pradesh province of India is located at the foot of the mightiest
mountain range in the world: the Himalayas. Nearby are exotic traveller's destinations like
McLeod Ganj, where the Dalai Lama is living in exile, or Manali, from where one of the most
spectaculair roads in the world runs to Ladakh (also known as 'Little Tibet').
The sheer natural beauty of the area is reflected by the colourful culture of the people living
there. There has been a strong Tibetan influence since the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of
the Tibetan people, fled China in 1959 and settled himself in this valley. The many Buddhist
stupa's ornated with colourful prayer flags, and the Tibetan monks in their traditional dresses,
make a visit to this area an unforgettable cultural experience.
