We certainly don't have to get bored in this area if the wheather gods are disturbing our flying
efforts. Here are some of the possible excursions:
Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj:
A visit to one of the Buddhist temples in Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj is a rewarding experience.
The colourfull village of McLeod Ganj is located higher in the mountains than Dharamshala and has
a spectacular view over the valley. From here you can do several beautifull day walks or
trekkings.
Manali:
This city is truely located at the foot of the Himalayas and is for many travellers the gateway
to the magical Ladakh. If you like hiking in the mountains, Manali is the place to be. And after
all your efforts you can take a relaxing hot bath with the locals in the neigbouring village
Vashist.
Shimla:
During the British colonisation this city used to be a popular destination for the Brits to
escape the heat of the flat lands. Nearby is Rashtrapati Niwas, the beautifull residence of the
former British viceroy. The Jakhu Temple, also known as the 'monkey temple' because of the
(pawing) troops of monkeys roaming the temple grounds, is worth a visit as well. Just don't bring
any food in your pockets or they will rip your clothes of your body...
Of course we're always willing to deviate from the program if, for instance, you're so fed up
with flying all the time, that an excursion would be nice for a change!
